SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
As an LNG Operations HSSE Shift Supervisor, you will lead a team to develop, implement, and manage safety and health programs at the Rio Grande LNG Facility in Brownsville, TX for Operations & Maintenance. The incumbent will lead HSSE initiatives, ensure compliance with regulations and company standards, assist functional leads to ensure requirements are properly integrated and will be responsible for overall project HSE execution. Your leadership will help achieve HSE performance expectations, compliance, and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • HSSE Leadership and Compliance:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSSE programs and procedures in alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HSSE regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Lead and participate in HSSE audits, inspections, and assessments to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Foster a leadership commitment to safety throughout the organization and inspire our team to pursue safety progress through life-saving rules and process safety fundamentals. Empower all employees and contractors with Stop Work authority.
  • Cultivate a safety culture that promotes open reporting of incidents and near misses, driving continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Risk Management:
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification and program needs in support our Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and control measures.
  • Monitor and track HSSE performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures and participate in emergency response drills and exercises.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Training and Communication:
  • Provide HSSE training and coaching for employees and contractors and promote a strong HSSE culture within the organization.
  • Communicate HSSE information and concerns effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Other Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering to integrate HSSE into all LNG activities.
  • Provide HSSE input during project planning and execution.
  • Monitor industry best practices and regulatory updates.
  • Serve as an on-site HSSE expert, coaching teams to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Supervise and mentor HSE personnel, fostering professional development.
  • Ensure HSE requirements are embedded in planning, design, operations, training, and contracts.
  • Implement and continuously improve the Company's HSE Management System and standards.
  • Support cross-functional teams with HSE compliance and guidance.
  • Develop and oversee Safety and Health Management Plans aligned with company and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for incident reporting.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • 7 to 9 years of relevant experience.
  • HSE-related certifications, such as OHST, CSHO, CHST, ASP or other relevant credential.
  • Experience in risk assessment, hazard identification, and incident investigation.
  • Ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) and maintain in good standing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact and influence effectively with every level of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Barrier Management model.
  • Proficiency in relevant HSSE software and tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health, manufacturing, engineering (safety engineering preferred), or a related field.
  • In depth understanding of the Risk Assessment Processes, and Process Safety Fundamentals principles.
  • Experience in LNG-specific hazards, cryogenic risks, and emergency response planning.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements (FERC, PHMSA, USCG, OSHA, API, ISO 31000, NFPA 59A, and LNG-specific regulations).
  • 5 + years' experience in leadership role(s) risk assessment, safety management, or HSE within LNG, oil & gas, or petrochemical industries.
  • Experience in working with KPI guidelines to track monthly requirements aligned to the NextDecade RGLNG annual business plans.
  • Proven experience managing HSE initiatives within large-scale, complex projects, with a track record of translating strategic objectives into actionable safety plans
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions by applying comprehensive knowledge of HSE practices and regulations.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex safety and environmental information clearly and effectively to diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of safety.
Job Site Work Environment
* Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
* Operates in a complex construction environment.
* Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
* Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.
* Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
* Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
* Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.

* Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.

* The incumbent is required to have fully mechanical motion and usage of all extremities.
* Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
* Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
* Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
* May be required to enter confined spaces.
* May be required to work at elevated heights and access elevated structures without assistance.
