PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As a Construction Field Engineer Intern at Worley, you will play a vital role in supporting project execution in the field by applying foundational engineering principles to real-world challenges. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals eager to develop technical acumen, contribute to sustainability-focused projects, and support field construction teams as part of a globally recognized leader in energy, chemicals, and resources. This internship serves as a launchpad to a meaningful engineering career, providing exposure to the full lifecycle of projects-from planning and design through to commissioning and delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Assist field engineering teams in the preparation, review, and revision of technical drawings, plans, calculations, and bills of materials in accordance with project standards and specifications
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections, and data collection to ensure that fieldwork conforms to design intent and regulatory compliance
  • Support construction progress reviews by documenting observations, compiling reports, and highlighting deviations from project requirements
  • Collaborate with construction, procurement, and quality teams to understand project needs and contribute to practical field solutions
  • Participate in safety reviews and apply safe work practices in daily activities to uphold Worley's commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence
  • Develop familiarity with engineering codes, industry standards, and Worley systems, processes, and tools relevant to construction
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, providing updates on assigned tasks and requesting guidance when required
  • Support the Area Construction Managers with planning, constructability reviews, field walks, and miscellaneous technical functions
  • Support the Turnover and Systems Management (TSM) team with procedures development, systems turnover, and Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) implementation
  • Support the Materials Manager with home office procurement coordination and field materials planning and logistics
  • Gain exposure to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Quality teams by assisting with selected activities to build understanding of their critical functions in project execution

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSET



  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a university degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, or related discipline), or equivalent technical qualification with relevant industry experience
  • Foundational knowledge of engineering principles, drafting, and construction practices gained through academic coursework or hands-on technical experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with an eagerness to learn from practical site exposure
  • Basic understanding of construction materials, methods, and systems relevant to energy, chemicals, or resources projects
  • Familiarity with digital tools used in engineering design, document control, and construction management (e.g., AutoCAD, Navisworks, MS Office Suite)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute effectively in team discussions and document technical observations clearly
  • Commitment to inclusive teamwork and adaptability in a fast-paced field environment
