Primary Function

The DOE Lab Technician II will conduct efficiency performance testing procedures on various types of equipment, review test results and communicate to the Residential Engineering Team.

Responsibilities
  • Review test requirements and set up various water heater types for performance testing as described in the Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Review and critique Uniform Energy Descriptor data and reports per Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Acts as owner of DOE Lab projects and takes the lead on setting up and testing projects based on the engineers' protocols and test plans.
  • Uses in-depth test and product knowledge to efficiently complete testing in the lab.
  • Collects and reviews test data and communicates observations to engineers.
  • Conduct Certification Testing to provide test data for product listings with AHRI and the US Department of Energy.
  • Makes recommendations based on observations.
  • Maintain AOS database with all test reports.
  • Calibrates test equipment as needed to maintain DOE Lab EPA Certification.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team. May mentor first level technicians.
  • Effectively communicates technical material to senior engineers. May require basic operation of laboratory-grade analytical equipment.

Qualifications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication - written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize individual workload to meet deadlines
  • Good general problem-solving skills.

Education

Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, HVAC, Mechanical, Electronics, Chemistry, Biology or Related Field

Or 2-3 years of related work experience
