Senior Manager, Litigation

This position provides primary legal direction which may include a single office or multiple offices. Acts exclusively as the division's local management representative.

This is a primarily home role, but candidates must reside in the upper East Coast region and have experience with RI, MA or CT files.

Position Compensation Range:

$147,000.00 - $250,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Oversees staff attorneys and office metrics to verify that the representation of the insured and/or the company is of a scope and quality appropriate to the nature of each case and that representation of the insured and/or the company is conducted in accordance with applicable rules of professional conduct for attorneys.
  • Resources, selects, negotiates, and contracts with vendors for litigation related services.
  • Manages case file assignment, office metrics, and ensures timely cadence of case file management through monthly file review.
  • Participates in the legal strategy of files handled by litigation staff attorneys as needed.
  • Participate in roundtables as necessary to help develop legal strategy on claims.
  • Analyzes litigation risk to clients.
  • Creates a collaborative, performance-driven work environment by facilitating and fostering trust, transparency, and inclusion.
  • Works with team members to set clear goals, provide feedback, perform performance assessments, and support on-going development.
  • Leads with influence and expertise. Actively contributes to division or department leadership team. Communicates and supports organization mission, vision, values, policies, and practices.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.

  • Demonstrated civil trial experience.

  • Demonstrated experience dealing with issues related to (i) tort law, (ii) litigation practice, and (iii) property and casualty insurance contracts, law and regulation.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of rules of Professional Responsibility for the jurisdiction in which they practice.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of tort, contract, and insurance law.

  • Admitted to the state bar in RI, MA, or CT; or admission to the RI, MA, or CT bar within one (1) year of hire for individuals who must pass a bar exam; or, gain full reciprocity and waived into bar admission no later than six (6) months from date of hire.

  • Juris Doctor
