Summary

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Landfill Spotter is responsible for ensuring proper placement and sorting of materials and guiding customers safely in the landfill.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles prepping for the Equipment Operator.

* Direct Customers where to safely dump their debris at the landfill.

* Pull metal and lead items from piles being disposed.

* Monitor piles to ensure they are the appropriate size.

* Remove items that can be recycled and are not acceptable for disposal at the landfill.

* Follow appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) as guideline for operating and maintaining equipment.

* Report any worker-public safety factors.

* Attend weekly/monthly safety/operations meetings.

OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.

* Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro.

* Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Ability to follow safe operating practices.

* Ability to learn and use interpersonal skills relating to good customer service

* Ability and willingness to work in a team environment

* Ability to read, write and comprehend reports well enough to complete daily assignments.

Special Considerations/Physical Work Requirements:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

* Push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, climbing steps, and overhead reaching.

* Walking, Jogging, Twisting, Crouching, Lifting

* Sufficient stamina for steady work pace throughout the day

* Ability to utilize all Personal Protective Equipment as mandated by company.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and extreme weather variations, wind; noise and vibrations, fumes, odors and dust.
