Position Description:

The Excel Kids center is designed to provide free, temporary, short-term childcare for the students of The Excel Center until regular childcare is located. The center is available when students are studying on-site or are in class, and it will serve children up to age 12. A child may stay at the center for a maximum of 4 hours each day.

Ensures the safe and caring management of all the children entrusted to the center, as well as Team Members, and other qualified participants. This means you will hire, train, coach, and help with monitoring children in the center, setting schedules, and developing learning opportunities for the children while in their care. Additionally, will keep parents informed of policies and procedures at the center as well as provide effective resolution for any conflicts that should arise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates lesson plans and schedules for children at the Excel Kids center.
  • Creates and maintains a task list to achieve timely completion of audit items.
  • Tracks and documents attendance, snack usage, budget, ages, families served, and the like.
  • Creates a monthly newsletter for parents, maintaining regular communication with parents regarding services, enrollment, scheduling or routine changes and special events for the children.
  • Creates and delivers a utilization report to Coaches and Director.
  • Coaches parents on how to create learning opportunities at home.
  • Participates in regular Excel Center team meetings.
  • Ensures all team members have appropriate tools to effectively perform their responsibilities, including updated training manuals, reference guides, and best practices procedures.
  • Responsible for scheduling, performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of Childcare team members.
  • Provides in-service training for team members in areas such as new policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Keeps track of attendant's documents, attendance and training.
  • Orders all supplies for location.
  • Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.
  • Maintains regular and consistent in-person attendance.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • High school diploma and/or GED required and hold Early Childhood Education Certification (ECE)
  • Continuing education in child development, early childhood education, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role in a childcare setting highly preferred
  • Coursework or training in early childhood development preferred,
  • Child/infant CPR certified/TB testing
  • Has working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google applications (specifically Gmail), Excel, Word and Internet Explorer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have some team building, organization and excellent customer service skills
  • Flexible, detail-oriented, and ability to balance multiple tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Have the ability to juggle multiple duties
  • Ability to resolve conflicts
  • Ability to pass a background check, Online Arizona Certification Information System (OACIS) check, State Board of Education Disciplinary check, fingerprint clearance card check, and drug screen
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently
