Department: Planning & Development Organizational Unit: Code Enforcement Investigations Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time CLOSE DATE: 06/10/2025 THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVE SERVICE $2,890.31 to $3,179.34 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Performs skilled administrative work directing the activities of personnel within the Contractor & Code Compliance Program, which includes the responsibility of enforcement of codes and ordinances related to unlicensed contractors, permitting, zoning, solid waste, housing, vehicle abatement, marine turtle lighting, adult entertainment, blight, health and safety, and property maintenance and the prosecution of enforcement cases through a Special Magistrate process. Supervision is given to professional, paraprofessional, technical, and clerical staff. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Urban/Regional Planning, or a closely related field PLUS six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the investigation and enforcement of codes, laws, or regulations, which includes three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity. Must have experience in the judicial and/or legal process and civil procedures for prosecution. Must have experience in standard database management and data analysis. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Experience working with GIS and Accela software applications is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the employment. Must possess, or obtain within one (1) year of employment, the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) Level 1: Fundamentals of Code Enforcement certification, and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) Level 2: Administrative Aspects of Code Enforcement certification is preferred. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
