Job Description Summary

Join American Axle Manufacturing- Ignite Your Potential in a Thriving Powder Metal Facility

AAM-Ridgway is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Quality Technician with experience in the powder metal industry. In this key role, you will be responsible for managing all gauging calibrations and providing critical support for quality inspections.

Your work will help ensure our products consistently meet the highest precision and quality standards throughout the production process.
You will also be cross-trained in in-process inspection and metallurgical lab testing to support quality operations across multiple departments.

Job Description

Calibrate and maintain gages, the gage control system and procedures concurrent with the Metrology Scope.

Responsibilities:
  • Environmental/Safety Requirements.
  • Maintains and updates the gage control system.
  • Works with outside vendors to purchase gages and equipment.
  • Schedules outside calibrations.
  • Calibrates all gaging at required frequencies and updates in the gage control system.
  • Performs daily verification of all hardness testers.
  • Cleans and maintains all electronic gaging.
  • Cleans and maintains all production and quality CMM's and works with outside service Technicians when necessary.
  • Maintains all inline and floor scales and works with outside service Technicians when necessary.
  • Validates gage acceptability through gage R&R studies as well as other related studies and capabilities.
  • Identifies standards for routine calibrations and implements calibration frequencies.
  • Cross trained in other quality tech duties: In-process lab, CMM, and Met Lab
  • WI location and understanding.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • At least 1 year of experience in a quality or metrology role, ideally in powder metal or precision manufacturing.
  • Solid knowledge of calibration practices and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with standard measuring tools and calibration software.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation accuracy.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications are a plus.
