We are looking for a toxicologist to join our Consumer Safety Team. This is a professional level position with extensive career growth opportunities.

As a Regulatory Scientist - Toxicologist, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing laboratory toxicology studies, interpreting and applying data to human and animal safety and systematic dietary exposure assessments and risk assessments as required by regulatory authorities for our genetically modified crop products. You will prepare study reports in compliance with regulatory guidelines and GLP requirements in support of regulatory submissions and will be expected to publish in externally peer reviewed journals.

Duties:

  • Independently apply your knowledge and experiences to plan, design, coordinate, monitor and deliver toxicity studies conducted by CROs in compliance with all safety, regulatory, and GLP requirements.
  • Lead projects and/or represent Product Safety in multi-disciplinary regional or global product development teams, providing key input into the development of consumer safety and regulatory strategies.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in conducting dietary exposure and risk assessments.
  • Be able to understand and communicate complex technical issues with stakeholders and provide expert inputs and/or prepare technical documents in response to questions from regulatory authorities.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple project responsibilities within cross functional teams.
  • Work to be recognized as a subject matter expert internally among cross-function colleagues and externally within industry and scientific forums/societies.
  • Conduct systematic literature reviews of databases and the internet for information on our products that may be relevant to safety assessment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD degree in toxicology or related discipline with at least 8 years of relevant academic or industry experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and experiences in dietary exposure and risk assessment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of designing, conducting, interpreting and reporting toxicity studies using in vivo and in vitro methodologies.
  • Demonstrated good understanding of regulatory guidance and study requirements within human and animal safety assessment, specifically toxicity assessment.
  • Ability to communicate externally by way of publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Demonstrated proficiency of scouting, reviewing, categorizing, and summarizing scientific literature to address a technical question is highly desirable.
  • Diplomate American Board of Toxicology (DABT) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of the safety assessment paradigm for genetically modified crops
  • Knowledge of GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) toxicology studies, OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals, and EFSA requirements for repeated dose toxicology studies conducted with food from genetically modified crops
  • Additional knowledge and experiences in human and animal risk assessment, and bio/statistical analysis is a plus.
