Summary/Description:
The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking a full time Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist, Coordinator of Specialty Care Building (SCB) Pharmacy. This position is responsible for organizing, supervising, directing, and evaluating the duties and functions performed by pharmacists, technicians, residents, and students to ensure the provision of accurate, efficient, and appropriate patient care, drug distribution, and medication therapy. The coordinator provides operational, quality, and compliance oversight.

Duties:

The academic responsibilities of the clinical faculty member include the provision of didactic lectures and precepting entry level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents and PGY2 residents. Scholarly activities, including presentations and publications, are an expectation as well.

Clinical Pharmacist duties include working closely with pharmacy technicians, students, medical staff and patients in providing patient-centered clinical pharmacy services.
- Provides pharmaceutical care services to all patients of SCB Pharmacy, including but not limited to, oversight, monitoring, preparation, dispensing and proper documentation of patient medication therapy as well as provide drug information and oversight over information and dispensing systems.
- Responsible for all pharmacy operational aspects for specialty care building (SCB) pharmacy; including addressing training issues; patient prescription management issues, fiscal operations, and scheduling; staff recruiting, orientation, training, and development; monitoring workflow; and ensuring appropriate staffing in patient care areas.
- Institute and coordinate quality control measures to ensure the availability and appropriate use of pharmaceuticals, including investigational drugs; utilize continuous quality improvement processes; oversee medication management in SCB.
- Supervises and directs staff when drug-related problems arise and ensures appropriate communication with all personnel involved.
- Supervise the daily activities of pharmacists, technicians, and students, including workload priorities: assist with training pharmacy residents in operational workflow with clinical services in the SCB pharmacy; provides orientation for healthcare providers and/or other clinic staff at the SCB pharmacy; and supervises residents and students on rotation in the SCB pharmacy.

Qualifications:
- PharmD from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program
- Illinois pharmacist license as a registered pharmacist or eligibility for an Illinois license by the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is required upon employment
- Completed clinical residency and/or fellowship or have minimum of three years of equivalent experience in the practice of pharmacy operations
- Minimum 1 year of pharmacy management experience with personnel management
- Must possess knowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinical faculty position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Retzky College of Pharmacy. Academic rank commensurate with experience.
