Position Summary

The Quality Inspector (internal level "C") plays a vital role in maintaining the quality standards of Ophir products and processes. Their primary responsibility is conducting inspections, supporting tests, and assisting in quality control activities to ensure compliance with established processes and requirements. This position is ideal for an individual with a passion for quality, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a desire to contribute to the success of an organization through continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess expertise to ensure that our incoming parts, in-process production, and shipped product fulfill all quality requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for physical inspection of materials, parts, products and documentation at different stages of production, as well as recording observations and making recommendations for improving processes.
  • Inspection for defects or assembly errors, and accept, reject, or request rework of defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Apply, revise, and maintain quality standards for receiving, in-process and final inspections.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with various metrology systems, analyzing the accuracy and repeatability of measurements taken during inspection and testing.
  • Operation, maintenance and management of calibrated analytical equipment
  • Track non-conforming materials ensuring that they are sent back to the vendor for repair / overhaul
  • Exercise quality principles, statistical techniques and lean manufacturing concepts to support supply chain management, incoming inspections, and manufacturing and test processes.
  • Track and document Nonconformances and provide trend analysis for maintenance review.
  • Conduct in-process and incoming inspections and support tests on raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure adherence to quality specifications and standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and guidelines.
  • Assist in the analysis of quality data and trends to identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions
  • Support the investigation of non-conformities, customer complaints, and production incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive measures
  • Assist in the maintenance of quality documentation, including inspection records, test reports, and standard operating procedures
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits to ensure compliance with quality management system and AS9100 requirements
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance tools and software systems.
  • Serve as QA/QC point of contact in support of on-site and off-site testing activities, as needed.
  • Ability to support on-site work, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent and 6+ years prior relevant experience; or 2+ year post-Secondary Associate's degree with 2+ years prior relevant experience.
  • Basic understanding of quality control methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Hands-on experience with inspection, metrology and measurement systems & principals
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and guidelines
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address quality issues
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and basic statistical analysis software
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of quality standards and regulations, such as ISO 9001/AS9100
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
  • An active U.S. Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Clearance. Current SSBI is preferred
  • A proactive and positive attitude towards continuous improvement
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience in an assembly manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrate ability to facilitate structured Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action efforts
  • SAP/ERP experience, particularly Epicor
  • Creo, AutoCAD, Windchill, 3D printing experience is desirable

Working Environment

  • May be working in office, lab, and manufacturing environments

  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, twist, and lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
