RN Nurse Supervisor Department: Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Special Care Nursery Schedule: Part Time 2nd Shift Hospital: Henry Ford Health Genesys Location: Grand Blanc, Michigan GENERAL SUMMARY Supervises, coordinates, and provides leadership while directing activities of clinical/non-clinical or interdisciplinary teams of licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff delivering quality patient care and ensuring implementation of clinical objectives in an assigned area. Responsibilities: Assesses daily patient care needs and develops and distributes patient care assignments of clinical/non-clinical or an interdisciplinary team of licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given. In accordance with the applicable State Nurse Practice Act, delegates appropriate duties to clinical/non-clinical or interdisciplinary teams of licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff based on their assessed skills and abilities. Gathers information from other members of the clinical/non-clinical or interdisciplinary team and uses this data to plan for the care of all patients on the unit for the shift. Evaluates the care delivered by other licensed and non-licensed caregivers and support staff by providing direct and immediate feedback and coaching, ongoing verbal and written feedback to the clinical/non-clinical leader on the performance of staff and evaluating the performance trends under his/her direction and recommends and participates in corrective/disciplinary action as required. Participates in the hiring process for new staff members assigned to the shift by conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations to the clinical/non-clinical leader. Education/Experience Requirements Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Certified BLS Provider specializing in Basic Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. Or Certified Instructor. Education: - Requires a graduate of an approved professional (RN) nursing program. 5 or more years of RN experience in an acute care setting required. Skills / Experience 1 year of leadership or equivalent experience 2 or more years of experience in Labor/'Delivery, Postpartum, or Special Care Nursery / NICU Ability to work effectively and collaborate with different teams, ability to foster a positive and effective work environment with multiple departments. Excellent organizational skills and time management skills. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, which includes the ability to communicate clear concise information to staff. Active listing and conflict resolution abilities, skilled in communicating sensitive information to patients and families. Ability to build strong relationships with peers, physicians, and other departments. Demonstrates commitment to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
