Posting Summary
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II for the Medicine Department within New Jersey Medical School.

The primary purpose of the Clinical Research Coordinator II ( CRCII) position is to assist the research team with day-to-day operations related to protocol start up, implementation and follow up of clinical trials sponsored by NIH or other industry sponsor. This role includes responsibility for assisting the clinical research team with conducting clinical trials, including, but not limited to, preparing for study initiation and activation, acquisition of source documents, record maintenance, preparing study documents, patient registration, coordinating and data entry.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Coordinates the initiation and activation of all new clinical trial protocols. Provides training to new personnel on research protocols, and sponsor policies and procedures as they pertain to conduct of the protocol, and of program SOPs.
  • Develops study tools, including but not limited to eligibility checklists, medication diaries, calendars, and flow sheets (as required).
  • In collaboration with other members of the research team and/or physician, obtains source documents (i.e., medical record documentation) as needed.
  • Actively recruits and screens study participants. Assists with enrollment and retention of participants on clinical trials.
  • Works with study participants and other members of the research team to schedule study visits and follow-up care.
  • Performs study-specific tasks including but not limited to vital signs or other procedure according to study SOPs and delegation logs.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree plus two (2) years of research experience required.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and administrative skills; detail oriented.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in working with historically excluded populations, including but not limited to LGBTQ+ folks, those with substance use disorder or criminal justice involvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Past experience with NIH funded trials preferred.
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) experience strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of Newark community preferred.

  • HIV Testing and Counseling certification or willingness to obtain within 1 year preferred.

  • Possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases.
  • Proper precautions will be taught and are mandatory.
