The Job
The Gainesville Raceway Announcer plays a crucial role in enhancing the experience of live racing events. The Gainesville Raceway Announcer effectively communicates the excitement of the race whether in the announcing booth, at the Starting Line, or at Top End. This role is demanding but rewarding, offering the excitement of being at the heart of racing events. As a member of the Gainesville Raceway Team, you will be an essential part of the guest experience. Your job will be to keep our fans safe and informed while still maintaining a fun and friendly atmosphere. This entails weekday, evenings, and weekend work which can include long (12-14+) and irregular hours outside in potentially extreme weather, and in a fast-paced environment.

FLSA/Salary:
$15/hour

Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma is required.
  • Previous announcing experience is preferred, along with a portfolio showcasing past work.
  • Experience working in the motorsports industry or a related field is required.
  • A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the sport, including rules, regulations, terminology, and key figures.
  • Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and concisely, ensuring the audience can easily follow the commentary.
  • Confidence and proficiency in speaking to large audiences, both live and via broadcast.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to react swiftly to on-track events and provide accurate, engaging commentary.
  • Keen observational skills to notice and interpret race developments and incidents.
  • Familiarity with broadcasting equipment and software used during live events.
  • Flexibility to handle unexpected situations and changes in the race schedule.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a team and/or independently.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions in English.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, racers, crew members, and guests.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be flexible with meal and rest periods.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, run, climb stairs, and lift to 50lbs as needed.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in potentially extreme temperatures for 12-14+ hours as needed.
  • Must be able to handle sounds at a high volume.
