Mechanics Bank is currently searching for a Associate Trust Portfolio Manager to join our team. Here at Mechanics Bank, we value connection, partnership, long term relationships and working together in person. This role can sit out of our San Francisco or Walnut Creek offices.

Under limited supervision, the Associate Trust Portfolio Manager provides support to the Trust Portfolio Managers to assist with exceptional service to our Wealth Management clients. This will include investment management related activities including portfolio analytics, investment research, trading, client reporting and client contact in a supporting role. Keeps informed of economic and financial conditions affecting markets subject to investment. Must adhere to Bank and Wealth Management department's policies and procedures.

What you will be doing:

  • Assist the team with all aspects of portfolio management of client accounts. This includes but is not limited to the administration of the ETF account program, trading and rebalancing client accounts in response to client or trustee distribution requests, high cash balances, and asset allocation variances, monitoring client concentrations and reduction plans, and monitoring of performance.

  • Assists with the preparation and tracking of Investment Policy Statements (IPS) for client accounts. Collaborates with the team to monitor and ensure client accounts are in compliance with IPS range.

  • Collaborates with other members of the investment team to review investment research and conduct due diligence of mutual funds, stocks, bonds and ETFs utilized in portfolio construction.

  • Assists with the investment aspects of Reg. 9 reviews, including pre-acceptance reviews, annual investment reviews and account oversight. Serves as a guest in the Trust Investment Committee, specifically to discuss investment-related issues and Reg. 9 investments reviews with committee members.

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings among the team for weekly investment discussions and bi-annual strategy sessions. Take notes and follow up on action items. Take the lead on client and team projects, as needed.

  • Supports the investment management group with marketing and new business efforts. This may include assisting with client seminars, client events, and client communications including the weekly market comment.

  • Maintains regular contact with internal and external business partners and clients, as needed, as a back up support for the portfolio managers. Upholds the department and Bank's reputation in all interactions.

Who you are:

  • Required 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Business Administration, Management, Finance or other related degree

  • Required 1 year Banking Experience, wealth management preferred. Preferred 3 year Banking Experience, wealth management

  • Interest in pursuing: CFA, CFP, CIMA and/or MBA

  • Effective interpersonal relationship skills and effective communication skills.

  • Proactive approach to problem solving and ability to identify and escalate issues.

  • Strong computer skills including the ability to utilize performance reporting software.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Exhibit high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in handling and having access to sensitive client information.

  • Possess effective time management and organizational skills.

  • Experience working in an office environment and with clients

Salary: $79,950-125,500 annually

Final compensation package will be determined by the work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
