Responsibilities
*THIS IS AN UNPAID INTERNSHIP* Job Summary Cedar Springs Hospital is accepting applications for its Internship/Field Placement Program in partnership with accredited colleges, universities, and educational institutions. This program offers students practical, hands-on training in mental health and substance abuse services in a structured and supervised clinical environment. Interns will support the hospital's mission while gaining valuable field experience, contributing to their academic and professional growth. Placement areas may include, but are not limited to, social work, psychology, nursing, counseling, and healthcare administration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Participate in supervised clinical or administrative duties as outlined by the intern's academic program. Attend and complete the required Cedar Springs Hospital orientation. Meet with assigned supervisor regularly for supervision and feedback. Adhere to all Cedar Springs Hospital policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines. Maintain professional conduct and meet the same health and safety standards required of employees. Complete any necessary evaluations as required by the academic institution. Submit final reports or written materials to the supervisor for review prior to submission. Provide copies of final internship-related materials to Cedar Springs Hospital for file retention. Understand that no material related to the placement may be published without prior written approval from Cedar Springs Hospital. Qualifications Qualifications Current enrollment in a degree-seeking program in a related field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration). Must provide satisfactory educational, personal, or employment references. Must meet the hospital's health clearance requirements. Strong communication skills and professionalism required. Ability to follow supervision, meet deadlines, and complete program objectives. Supervision and Evaluation Interns will receive ongoing supervision by a designated hospital staff member. Supervisors will document supervision meetings and maintain a file specific to the student. Evaluations will be completed at the end of the placement and at additional intervals per program requirements. If performance concerns arise, a joint review will occur between the hospital and the academic institution to determine appropriate action.
