Job ID: 98606

Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges-the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place.
Your Impact
You'll work in our Atlanta, Tampa, San Jose, or Lisbon office as part of McKinsey Global Publishing.
McKinsey Global Publishing (MGP), a ~100-person team of content editors, production staff, and digital-media experts, is McKinsey's largest publishing group. MGP works with McKinsey authors to develop and publish distinctive content across an expanding array of print, digital, audio, and video platforms, including McKinsey.com and the McKinsey Insights app. Our end products include feature articles, white papers, blog posts, business-leader interviews, podcasts and videos, newsletters, the McKinsey Quarterly, and the "McKinsey on..." series of publications (eg, McKinsey on Finance). These thought-leadership publications are read by a global audience of decision-makers at leading companies and organizations.
As an MGP assistant editor, the bulk of your time will be spent working closely with MGP editors and production staff to produce articles and publications on business topics, often on a specific industry sector (eg, banking, high tech, energy) or function (eg, strategy, marketing, operations). Articles will vary in length, format, assets, and target audience. You'll also spend time helping to write and source a daily newsletter that pairs current business news with relevant McKinsey insights.
The assistant editor at MGP is fluent in our group's production-related processes and resources and offers strong copyediting and proofreading support to enhance firmwide publishing efforts and outreach initiatives. Typical responsibilities include:
*Provide high-level copyediting and proofreading for a large and diverse suite of editorial products, encompassing Insights articles, reports, industry publications, articles for the McKinsey Quarterly, daily and weekly newsletters, podcasts, video interviews, web products (including for social media), and a rapidly increasing volume and variety of ad hoc publishing projects.
*Support other members of the copy desk and publishing operations as a whole in staying on top of a high-volume, occasionally unpredictable article pipeline. Help identify publishing priorities and meet deadline requirements.
*Work with data-visualization specialists to provide clear, accessible visual assets (exhibits, infographics, interactives) for our articles and other publishing initiatives.
*Contribute to a daily newsletter that offers pithy McKinsey perspectives on current business topics.
*Communicate clearly and cogently with MGP editors and McKinsey.com staff in support of an increasing volume of editorial projects.
*Keep up with new production skills as needed (content-management systems and processes, house-style updates, new types of content and new digital formats, social media, in-line linking, SEO, taxonomies for online articles, automation and gen AI efficiencies, etc.).
*Support the dissemination of McKinsey.com content via email alerts and mobile apps (iOS and Android).
*Ensure all digital assets are proofed, formatted properly, adhere to style guidelines, and support optimal user experience on our website, in email alerts, and in the mobile Insights app.
