3rd Shift Machine Operator

Job Description:

The Hanover ESAB facility manufactures welding consumables for a variety of industrial uses. Manufacturing facilities are located at 1500 Karen Lane in Hanover, PA. We currently are looking to add on to our team as we continue "Shaping the World We Imagine!"

3rd Shift hours are Sun-Thurs, 11:00pm-7:00am.

Hourly rate of $27.59 - $28.45 per hour depending on specific role, plus shift differential!

Electrode Finish Operator

The Finishing Operator will be primarily responsible for packaging containers of electrodes in accordance with established quality, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and requirements.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and affix proper marking stamps or labels on all containers and covers.

  • Prepare, identify, seal and palletize all packaged materials.

  • Withdraw pallets and all necessary packaging materials from inventory.

  • Transport finished products to designated areas.

  • Salvage and reuse can lids.

  • Clear oven jams.

  • Complete batch cards and daily packing reports.

  • Inspect, weigh and pack electrodes (including use of protective packaging).

  • Pick out scrap and perform quality checks on electrodes (e.g., check printing for correctness).

  • Communicate with coworkers regarding size, heat or type changes.

  • Make up boxes.

  • Relieve other employees (including other electrode department employees) as directed

  • Set up and operate Quad Pak machine and adjustment as necessary to meet production and quality standards.

  • Unload supplies and materials from trailers.

  • Perform tasks necessary to reclaim steel from defective rods.

  • Keep the equipment and work area clean.

Solid Wire Drawbench Operator

The Drawbench Operator is responsible for the safe drawing of quality wire at speeds, tolerances, sizes and standards as set by Management.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Obtain and load wire onto payoff unit.

  • Occasionally point and butt weld.

  • Thread wire through drawing machine.

  • Must change and maintain dies and drawing lubricants necessary for the drawing of quality wire on one or more machines.

  • Will remove drawn wire from finish end of machine, check size and properly identify and place in designated areas.

  • Will fill out daily production reports.

  • Responsible for notifying the supervisor of defective or shortages of materials.

  • Maintains cleanliness and housekeeping of equipment and work area.

  • Must be proficient with a micrometer, tape measure and other process control inspection requirements.

  • Will be responsible to acquire raw material dimensions / properties (i.e. weight) and recording that data.

  • Must accurately maintain process control sheets as they relate to the specific machines.

Solid Wire Rewinder

The Rewinder is responsible to safely random wind wire of any size and type, "depending upon machine capabilities," into predetermined size spools and coils to specific weights established by Management.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Loading pay-off device.

  • Butt welding and grinding wire.

  • Changing and maintaining dies.

  • Applying lubricants.

  • Threading machines.

  • Making minor adjustments, tying and securing spools properly.

  • Identifying packing and palletizing by utilizing such stamps and/or labels and such equipment and materials as are necessary.

  • Must obtain all necessary materials and supplies from predetermined locations as directed.

  • Must wear gloves when handling wire.

  • Check each coil identification tag and identify properly with order pouch.

  • Must be proficient with a micrometer, tape measure and other process control inspection requirements.

  • Will complete forms and reports as directed.

  • Maintains cleanliness and housekeeping of equipment and work area.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED;

  • Successful candidates will need to complete a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and work tolerance screening.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds occasionally.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, push, pull, bend and walk up and down steps for extended periods.

  • Manual dexterity to operate machinery/equipment.

  • Visual acuity to operate and/or inspect products and machinery/equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environment (hot and cold conditions).

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed.

  • Must adhere to all site policies and safety standards.
