2nd Shift Machine Operator

Job Description:

The Hanover ESAB facility manufactures welding consumables for a variety of industrial uses. Manufacturing facilities are located at 1500 Karen Lane in Hanover, PA. We currently are looking to add on to our team as we continue "Shaping the World We Imagine!"

2nd Shift hours are Mon-Fri, 3:00pm - 11:00pm.

Hourly rate of $27.59 - $28.45 per hour depending on specific role, plus shift differential!

Electrode Press Operator

The responsibility of a Press Operator is to extrude quality electrodes at established speeds, pressures, and tolerances in accordance with established quality, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and requirements.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Make the proper adjustments of the equipment in order to correct conditions causing electrodes to be of "inferior quality;" and, if unable to do so, will contact the Supervisor immediately.
  • Work with a team in cleaning and changing over the presses.
  • Will change feeders, guide tubes, and extrusion dies for size required to meet production schedules. Must check the feeder and press for proper set-up.
  • Will keep pots filled with flux at all times, change tapes, and adjust the brush and sander when necessary.
  • May need to monitor the flow of electrodes with the assistance of the electronic monitoring system.
  • Must notify the Line Inspector of heat changes, wire changes and coating changes.
  • Will collect inventory control cards and turn them into the supervisor or the office as directed.
  • Will assist in cleaning jams in the magnetic oven and accumulator and operate the wet scrap washer.
  • Will fill out daily extrusion reports as required.
  • Will keep the equipment and work area clean and relieve each other for break period(s) as needed.
  • Will also be required to monitor the imprint to assure there is one legible print on each rod and weigh pans of wire, if required.
  • Will be responsible to "put up" the appropriate heat of wire based on the production schedule.

Electrode Finish Operator

The Finishing Operator will be primarily responsible for packaging containers of electrodes in accordance with established quality, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and requirements.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and affix proper marking stamps or labels on all containers and covers.
  • Prepare, identify, seal and palletize all packaged materials.
  • Withdraw pallets and all necessary packaging materials from inventory.
  • Transport finished products to designated areas.
  • Salvage and reuse can lids.
  • Clear oven jams.
  • Complete batch cards and daily packing reports.
  • Inspect, weigh and pack electrodes (including use of protective packaging).
  • Pick out scrap and perform quality checks on electrodes (e.g., check printing for correctness).
  • Communicate with coworkers regarding size, heat or type changes.
  • Make up boxes.
  • Relieve other employees (including other electrode department employees) as directed
  • Set up and operate Quad Pak machine and adjustment as necessary to meet production and quality standards.
  • Unload supplies and materials from trailers.
  • Perform tasks necessary to reclaim steel from defective rods.
  • Keep the equipment and work area clean.

Solid Wire TIG Operator

The responsibility of a TIG Operator is to safely set-up, run, and troubleshooting multiple wire cutting / straightening equipment and produce quality product at speeds, tolerances, percentages and sizes as set by Management.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Loading payoffs and welding of wire at the cutting operations.
  • Will be responsible for the proper threading of machine, adjustment of drive rolls, and making adjustments where needed.
  • Must obtain all necessary raw and packaging materials and supplies from predetermined locations as directed.
  • Must be proficient with a micrometer, tape measure and other process control inspection requirements.
  • Will be responsible for packaging and moving finished goods to finished goods area.
  • Will be responsible to record dimensions / properties.
  • Must wear gloves when handling wire.
  • Check each coil identification tag and identify properly with order pouch.
  • Will complete daily records and production report as required.
  • Will keep equipment and work area clean.

Flux Cored Wire (FCW) Fabricating Line Operator

The Fabricating Line Operator is responsible to form, fill and draw quality fabricated wire at speeds, finished standards and size tolerances as set by Management while maintaining an efficient running operation with minimum breakage.

Additional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Loading, pointing, and welding the skelp and wire at the forming and drawing operations.
  • Unloading the finished reels/coils at the drawing operation and properly identifying each reel/coil.
  • Must maintain tolerances and standards such as proper degreasing and wiping of the skelp, taking percentage and weight checks as instructed.
  • Keeping the hopper filled with proper mix
  • Changing dies and drawing compound when necessary.
  • Maintaining proper roll adjustments, setting up and adjusting new rolls.
  • Must fill accumulator as required.
  • Will complete daily records and reports as instructed.
  • Must keep the equipment and work area clean.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED;
  • Successful candidates will need to complete a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and work tolerance screening.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, push, pull, bend and walk up and down steps for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate machinery/equipment.
  • Visual acuity to operate and/or inspect products and machinery/equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environment (hot and cold conditions).
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed.
  • Must adhere to all site policies and safety standards.
