Starkey is seeking a Senior International Tax Accountant to join our Finance team at our headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN. This position will focus on the international tax aspects of Starkey's multi-national business, while assisting with domestic tax requirements as well. The International Sr. Tax Accountant will have responsibility for the annual international tax provision and international aspects of the U.S. tax return, including foreign tax credit, foreign base company sales analysis, intercompany transaction analysis, etc. Additionally, they will assist the Domestic Sr. Tax Accountant on tax provision and tax return preparation, as needed. The person in this role will also be the tax contact for the foreign finance managers on local country tax issues, as well as audits. The International Sr. Tax Accountant supports the Director of Tax on special tax projects, research and analysis.

Responsibilities



  1. Manage the U.S. compliance process for foreign entities.

    • Prepare and review work papers supporting book/tax differences, foreign base company sales, foreign information reporting (i.e. Forms 5471, 8858, etc.), foreign tax credit, GILTI, and other areas.
    • Research and analysis of changes in U.S. and foreign tax law applying to Starkey's foreign entities.
    • Foreign entity U.S. tax return preparation and review.
    • Country by Country analysis, including workpaper and return preparation.


  2. Assist with U.S. compliance process for domestic entities, as necessary.

    • Prepare U.S. tax compliance workpapers.
    • Prepare federal and state tax returns.


  3. Review and preparation of foreign year-end tax provision workpapers and tax disclosures for financial statements

    • Train the foreign finance managers on the tax provision template and process.
    • Review and analysis of foreign subsidiary tax provisions.
    • Prepare schedules supporting and reconciling deferred tax assets and liabilities, income taxes payable, income tax reserves and tax expense.
    • Prepare year-end memos supporting the tax provision workpapers.
    • Prepare tax-related financial statement disclosures.
    • Answer questions from independent auditors.
    • Assist Domestic Sr. Tax Accountant as needed.


  4. Assist with projects, as necessary.

    • Research, analyze, and monitor BEPS Pillar 2 implications to Starkey.
    • Research tax implications of business transactions.


  5. Prepare responses to taxing authority notices and audits, including working directly with auditors.


Results - Performance Measures



  • Timely, accurate and complete tax return documentation and tax return preparation.
  • Accurately prepare and review tax provision work papers and account reconciliations in accordance with timelines established by Corporate Controller; timely respond to queries from independent auditors.
  • Respond to requests from taxing authorities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Respond to various requests in a timely manner.


Other Duties



  • Interact with personnel in Finance Department to obtain financial statement information
  • Interact with personnel outside of Finance Department for information relating to tax issues and tax audits
  • Support Starkey Employee Corporate and/or Department Guidelines.
  • Check and verify quality and accuracy.
  • Support corporate health and safety objectives.
  • React to change productively and handle other essential duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • Four-year degree in Accounting or degree in another area and relevant work experience


Experience

4 or more years of international tax experience

Knowledge



  • U.S. tax compliance for foreign subsidiaries, including foreign US tax forms and foreign tax credit
  • Foreign tax provision preparation and review
  • Knowledgeable of tax aspects of financial statement
  • Tax research

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $75,460 - $105,000 / year. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is eligible for a bonus based upon performance results. There is no guarantee of payout.
