Moog Space and Defense Group is projecting significant growth driven by high levels of U.S. Department of Defense spending and the thirst for human exploration.The Niagara Falls Site supplies rocket engines, propulsion systems, and propellant tanks for a variety of spacecraft, launch vehicle and strategic defense missions.
We are looking for a Software and Controls Engineer who will work on automating and upgrading our existing hot fire and facility infrastructures, instrumentation and controls, as well as support day-to-day test operations in this role. The candidate will also maintain and modernize proprietary software used in post-test data reduction and analysis.
To be considered for this position, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline with 1-5 years of experience. Preferred Software, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Proficiency at Object Oriented Programming languages such as C++, C#, python, etc.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) - implementing them into new designs as well as maintaining/troubleshooting existing hardware.
- Experience working with JIRA, or similar management tools, and source control software such as GitHub, TortoiseSVN, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems such as electro-pneumatic valves, vacuum systems, process monitoring instrumentation, pumping systems, or equivalent.
- Experience using data acquisition hardware such as LabVIEW, cDAQ, DEWEsoft, or equivalent. The ability to read and modify LabVIEW code is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand applicable drawings including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Strong communication skills. This role will interface heavily with skilled technicians, facilities team, and engineering.
As a Controls Software Engineer, you will:
- Design and maintain control systems for rocket and propulsion system testing.
- Assist in determining input/output (I/O) and control hardware component specifications and the selection of sensing hardware to automate the test facility and hot fire processes.
- Develop test automation, data acquisition, and data analysis hardware and software to improve test efficiency.
- Assist in improving and maintaining existing data analysis and reporting software. This includes creating user-friendly PC-based graphical interfaces and HMIs.
- Troubleshoot and debug PLCs, network devices, instrumentation and controls.
- Define changes needed in existing controls hardware and data reduction software.
- Occasionally aid in conduction of hot fire and vibration testing, based on level of skill and training.

Salary Range Transparency: Niagara Falls, NY $75,000.00-$105,000.00 Annually
