The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Air Traffic Control Lab Manager to oversee the operations and maintenance of our state-of-the-art simulation labs (Tower, TRACON, and En Route). This critical role ensures the readiness and compliance of ATC simulation systems used in both academic instruction and student practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lab Oversight:
    Ensure all ATC labs (Tower, TRACON, En Route) remain operational, FAA-compliant, and ready for scheduled classes and practice sessions.
  • Simulation Support:
    Collaborate with faculty to develop and refine simulation scenarios for instructional use. Monitor practice sessions to ensure students and tutors adhere to performance standards.
  • Technical Maintenance:
    Troubleshoot minor software/hardware issues; escalate major deficiencies with detailed work orders. Track and manage all reported issues to ensure timely repair.
  • System Security Compliance:
    Coordinate with ERAU IT and simulation maintenance contractors to meet all University system security requirements.
  • Instructional Support:
    Assist in administering and scoring E-CTI student evaluations. Serve as a qualified substitute instructor during temporary faculty absences.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or GED (must demonstrate proficiency in grammar, spelling, basic composition, and mathematics)

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years civil or U.S. Military aviation experience
  • Prior experience with simulation/gaming software/hardware
  • Strong computing and troubleshooting skills

Skills:

  • Advanced technical proficiency with ATC simulation tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
  • Organizational and leadership capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • FAA Air Traffic Control Specialist Certification
  • Previous experience in an educational or training environment
  • Understanding of FAA E-CTI program standards
  • Ability to mentor and assess student performance
  • Commitment to maintaining high operational and instructional standards
