The Transportation Analyst is the first level of response and business support for the Supply Chain-Transportation Department at Milwaukee Tool. The role is responsible for the day-to-day support and development of transportation operations, including carrier management, daily review of shipment activity, shipment analysis, customer service, coordination of inbound and outbound transportation scheduling, routing impact shipments, resolution of transportation issues and cost savings/mitigation calculation and performance metrics management.

You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Work cross functionally with Supply Chain, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Channels and Distribution teams to meet the needs of the business
  • Responsible for coordinating the movement of freight through various transportation modes including air, truck, rail, and ocean carriers
  • Support manufacturing and operations with transportation support for scheduling, expediting and maintaining shipment compliance as established through the organization
  • Provides price quotes and bookings to business partners for expediting and one-off shipment scheduling
  • Reviews expedited shipment requests to ensure adherence to the most cost-effective transportation alternatives. Presents transactions involving excess costs to proper approval levels for review
  • Acts as support/backup to Transportation Manager
  • Oversee shipment coordination, routing and tracking to delivery to assure customer needs are met, measured and improved
  • Coordinate pickups with vendors to provide freight services for product shipping to other METCO locations
  • Drives cost mitigation projects through data analysis
  • Track vessels and shipping containers through visibility tool to measure performance and business support through Supply Chain and Operations

The TOOLS you'll bring with you:

  • Ability to extract, manipulate, and organize data.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities and provide analytical support for fact-based decisions.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and within a team environment
  • 1-2 years of Transportation experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, operations, logistics, supply chain management preferred, but BS in other areas acceptable with work experience in these area
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Microsoft PowerPoint required.
