Position Summary

UNM
IT's Academic Technologies division is seeking responsible, self-motivated
students that demonstrate leadership, aptitude, initiative, and assertiveness
to provide professional assistance and instruction with a variety of classroom
hardware and software to faculty, and staff in academic environments, which
requires experience with Windows, and a familiarity with macOS. Candidates should
demonstrate excellent customer service skills and working in the university
environment.

Applicants
must demonstrate the ability to work independently, to organize time efficiently,
and to communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and students. Applicants
should be able to take the initiative to solve many of the computing problems
that occur on a daily basis. Applicants may also be asked to participate in additional
projects, which may include leading team projects, safe transportation of
classroom technology items, printer maintenance, or deployment of new computer
environments.

Duties and
responsibilities include:

1.) Maintaining organization and cleanliness of the work area.

2.) Ensure the completion of SCON duties, including verifying that all requests in the area of responsibility are addressed in a professional manner, ensuring effective solution-oriented troubleshooting, ensuring all check-outs are handled on time and accurately, ensuring professional and communicative instruction on classroom technologies, and ensuring competency and proficiency in our ticketing system.

3.) Serve as the primary point of contact and assistance for entry level SCONs, addressing issues before any other necessary escalation.

4.) Administrative work, including creating and enforcing classroom check schedules, and office signage for customers and SCONs for the purpose of an effective work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1.) Enrolled
in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at
UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if
Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

2.) Previous experience as a SCON or Learning Environments Student Tech, or prior experience in a similar capacity at another department or institution.

3.) Ability to evaluate and recommend improvements associated with all aspects of the classroom and AV annexes.
Ability to work with faculty and teaching assistants.

4.) Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues and coordinate with intradepartmental IT specialists to resolve issues and projects.

5.) Experience with operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex AV systems.
Customer service experience.

6.) Able to work a minimum of 10 hours
per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

1.) Previous experience as a SCON or Learning Environments Student Tech, or prior experience in a similar capacity at another department or institution.

2.) Ability to evaluate and recommend improvements associated with all aspects of the classroom and AV annexes.

3.) Ability to work with faculty and teaching assistants.

4.) Experience in a leadership role.

5.) Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues and coordinate with intradepartmental IT specialists to resolve issues and projects.

service experience.

8.) Experience with IT
ticketing systems.

9.) Familiarity with support and
operation of commercial AV systems.

10.) Able to work a minimum of
18 hours per week.
