Safety Coordinator

Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Weekly inspections at facilities, new hire training, silica and noise sampling of aggregate facilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Frequent plant inspections and safety contact with all employees

• Weekly/Monthly meetings including manager and safety meetings.

• Participate in accident investigations and review to eliminate cause.

• Assist in developing and implementing programs to reduce accidents and violations.

• You will assist with or conduct health and industrial hygiene surveys/sampling including Silica and noise.

• Accompany MSHA on inspections.

• Apply your leadership skills in conducting MSHA training, including 24-hour Newly Employed Inexperienced Miner, Annual Refresher Training, and Site-Specific Training

• Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must be able to effectively communicate with team members and multiple levels of management.

• Must have good computer skills and have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Must be able to walk through locations with a variety of terrain including being on water and at heights.

• Must be able to multitask while performing the above duties.

• Must be able to work in a multiple leveled work area using stairs, walkways, ladders, or ramps.

EDUCATION:

• Preferred high school or equivalent.

• MSHA certification preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• The majority of duties are performed in an outside environment in a mining work environment. The majority of the workday is spent working with management and other team members.
