Motorola Solutions is building talent pipelines to meet future hiring demands. This is a pipeline role, while there is not an immediate opening, we want to build relationships with prospective candidates like you. The Field Engineer holds a pivotal role in the complete lifecycle of MOTOTRBO and other Safety Re-Imagined systems. Their core responsibilities encompass the end-to-end process of system deployment, ensuring meticulous configuration to align with specific operational requirements, and continuous optimization for peak performance. This role also involves the ongoing operation and rigorous testing of these critical communication systems. A significant aspect of the Field Engineer's duties is comprehensive troubleshooting, addressing any technical issues promptly and effectively to minimize downtime and maintain system integrity.

Crucially, this position demands exceptional collaborative skills. The Field Engineer works in close partnership with the customer throughout all phases of the project, from initial requirements gathering to post-deployment support, ensuring that all solutions are tailored to meet and exceed their expectations and unique operational needs. Furthermore, the Field Engineer is an integral part of a broader interdepartmental team, collaborating extensively with presales specialists to accurately define project scope, with CCSI the staging team, and with various other engineering teams to leverage collective expertise and ensure robust, innovative solutions. This synergistic approach guarantees that the deployed system is not only technically sound but also perfectly aligned with the customer's strategic objectives and long-term communication requirements.

They are also responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • System Expertise and Maintenance:

    • Maintain expert-level knowledge of the MOTOTRBO Capacity Max Radio System.

    • Provide daily support, monitoring, and maintenance for the system.

    • Conduct annual Preventative Maintenance (PM) checks on Motorola infrastructure.

    • Support system upgrades, site expansions, and system design.

  • Collaboration and Support:

    • Collaborate with local technicians on callouts and emergencies.

    • Coordinate additional technical assistance from Motorola TSO or other local resources.

    • Assist with day-to-day subscriber programming.

    • Follow up on repairs and technical support cases.

  • Training and Communication:

    • Deliver ongoing training and technical briefings on product lifecycle changes and upgrades for MOTOTRBO infrastructure and associated equipment relevant to the Customer system and use case.

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Customer NOC, Customer Technicians, and other relevant departments, agencies, and vendors involved in the MOTOTRBO radio system.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Training and Presentation Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively present and facilitate complex technical training sessions to diverse audiences, ranging from junior technicians to seasoned engineers, ensuring comprehensive understanding and practical application of subject matter.

  • Computer Network Expertise: Proficiency in the end-to-end lifecycle of computer network infrastructure, encompassing meticulous installation, robust configuration, and proactive maintenance. This includes hands-on experience with various network components such as structured cabling systems, enterprise-grade routers, managed switches, advanced firewalls, and network bridges.

  • Wired Communications Systems Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience with wired communications systems, specifically Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN), including their design, implementation, and troubleshooting.

  • Server Hardware and Software Infrastructure: Proven capability to install, configure, and troubleshoot server hardware and operating systems (OS), as well as associated software infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

  • RF Systems Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) systems, including the principles of operation for transmitters, receivers, and the design and maintenance of intricate antenna networks.

  • Telephony and Data Circuit Understanding: A thorough understanding of standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, including T1/E1 lines, as well as various packet switching techniques and protocols.

  • RF and LAN Test Equipment Proficiency: Extensive experience in utilizing a wide array of RF and LAN test equipment, such as sophisticated service monitors, precise RF power meters, and advanced Ethernet test sets, for diagnostic and performance validation purposes.

Mobility and Travel Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • The role requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time, often to various client sites or remote locations, necessitating adaptability and independent travel management.
  • Preferred candidates will reside in Florida or Virginia

Target Base Salary Range: $57,400 - $91,800 USD
