This position is responsible for administering leave of absence and disability accommodation programs and policies for all Dart employees.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Administer Leave of Absence and ADA accommodations which include accurately interpreting and applying State, Federal and Municipal/Provincial leave laws in the United States and Canada, including but not limited to FMLA, USERRA, ADA and Dart policies to resolve issues
  • Process and ensure accurate eligibility decisions by reviewing established guidelines and escalate non-routine decisions
  • Stays current on applicable leave legislation as it relates to State, Federal and Municipal leaves and legislation that affect leave programs in the United States and Canada
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping system in accordance with department standards
  • Runs ad-hoc reports to identify leave and accommodation trends
  • Facilitate communication and understanding between employee, plant and vendor
  • Communicate changes in return to work dates, leave status, etc. with the appropriate staff and assist with any questions or explanations
  • Provide consultation and information to business partners to resolve inquiries
  • Knows and understands Dart policies related to Absence Management
  • Leads the "Interactive Process" documenting the steps taken and ensuring the correct people are involved resulting in a determination on all accommodation requests
  • Creates and delivers trainings and presentations, both internally and externally, to educate and communicate the Leave of Absence, Disability and Accommodation Programs

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of leave of absence, disability, and accommodations. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to leave of absence, FMLA, ADA, and USERRA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related processes to internal and external customers or to persuade/influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain (technical, financial, etc) issues.
  • Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping system in accordance with department standards
  • Provide explanations of employee and applicant rights and responsibilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong customer focus
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to non-routine problems, master new concepts quickly and efficiently, and to turn concepts into practical application/action
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, and spreadsheets in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Ability to develop proficiency in SAP and SharePoint

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • SHRM, CPDM or CLMS certification
