Overview

Our Radiological Emergency Planning Personnel take great pride and ownership in supporting the Radiological Emergency response organization (RERO). It is our responsibility to protect the health and safety of the sailors, our employees, the public and the environment through emergency preparedness activities.

Emergency Planning is seeking highly motivated person who will support a wide range of technology installment, maintenance and development efforts. This will include overseeing the audio-visual network used for the Radiological Emergency Response.

The position will also be responsible for maintaining the network information assurance compliance, interfacing and supporting Responders, as well as performing network maintenance and interfacing unclassified and classified network administrators during troubleshooting. Coach and train Responders on computer systems to ensure they are prepared to respond to and manage complex and unusual situations. The individual will also be the POC for all technological projects associated with the Emergency Control Center (ECC)

Responsibilities include:

    Candidate shall have knowledge of operating systems, and application knowledge as well as an awareness of Information Assurance and network security requirements.
  • Candidate must be highly motivated, work well within a team environment with minimal supervision and be willing to interact with RERO responders with varying levels of knowledge on computer systems.
  • Candidate will responsible to maintain ECC network (computers, visual displays, and phone system) and cloud base applications in a ready to response condition by conducting daily, weekly and monthly system testing.
  • Assist in the coordination of the safe execution of complex Shipyard and SUBASE radiological emergency exercises, developing and integrating scenarios that test each team's response capabilities while challenging the responders in order to expand their thinking including inputting the scenario in software applications.
  • Engagement with regulatory and oversight agencies to demonstrate program compliance with Federal, State and company requirements.
  • Support for Program outreach activities, to include engagement with Federal, State and local emergency managers, police departments, fire departments, hospitals and regional nuclear power activities.


Qualifications

Required:

  • 4+ years of experience in network administration
  • Candidate must apply for, obtain and maintain Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) approved access to supported facilities (i.e., SUBASE New London)

Preferred:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering / Information Technology
  • Previous or current experience in military cybersecurity regulations
  • Naval Nuclear experience
  • Experience with PowerShell, SQL and VBA
  • Technical writing experience


Skills

Required:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including but not limited to: Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PPT, etc.)
  • Must be able to read and interpret company policies and procedures
  • Candidate should possess strong technical writing, oral communication, and organizational skills.
  • Candidate must be able to interface with all levels of civilian and military management at Electric Boat Shipyard and Submarine Base, New London organizations
  • Candidate should be able to manage IT Projects in support of the ECC.

Preferred:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize task assignments
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with internal & external customers including: RERO Personnel, Operations, Engineering, EBIT, UNISYS, State and local stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously improve self and core business processes
