Overview
The primary role of the Fixed Income Investment Analyst is to conduct fundamental research and due diligence on fixed income investments, ETFs and money managers. The Investment Analyst is responsible for developing and maintaining the Approved List of fixed income investments, ETFs and money managers for use by Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers. Makes recommendations for investment strategies that meet the objectives set forth by various committees, portfolio managers and client facing associates. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform fundamental research and due diligence on fixed income investments, ETFs and money managers and make recommendations to the various committees for approval of managers to be added or removed from the "Approved List".
- Meet with external Portfolio Managers, Portfolio Specialists, and Analysts via on-site visits, in-house meetings, and conference calls in an effort to develop a working knowledge of the firm, product, team, philospohy/ process, and performance expectations.
- Manage the Approved List of fixed income investments across a number of asset classes, ensuring the list offers not only differentiated investment offerings but also highest conviction ideas.
- Serve as subject matter expert in respected areas of coverage.
- Support internal Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers on ad hoc questions or research projects to better serve clients and meet client objectives.
- Assist in the management of the Asset Allocation Models by making recommendations that meet the objectives as determined by the Equity Strategy Group, Fixed Income Strategy Group, Complements Strategy Group, and/or Investment Committee.
- Proactively stay abreast of events and developments in the financial markets.
- Actively manage inherent risks by adhering to internal policies and procedures, regulatory and statutory requirements, and exercising sound judgment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Economics or related field with 2 - 5 years of experience conducting mutual fund and/ or bond due diligence.
- Chartered Financial Analyst or working towards designation highly desired.
- Working knowledge of Morningstar Direct and Morningstar Advisor Workstation beneficial.
- Proven ability to effectively deliver presentations to Committees, Portfolio Managers and other groups as it pertains to Investment Research.
- Strong understanding of the business development process and the ability to collaborate with/and support JFG associates in their business development and client retention efforts.
