Hiring Range

The University of California, Merced is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The salary range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $75,700 - $91,000/yr.

About the Job

Under the supervision of the Director of Admissions, the SJV PRIME+ Admissions Manager will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the SJV PRIME+ application process and managing activities related to high school recruitment/outreach for the SJV PRIME+ program. The incumbent will operationalize and monitor the SJV PRIME+ admissions process, which includes participating in the Admissions workstream, monitoring, maintaining, and updating the SJV PRIME+ AMP application system, and liaising with UCSF School of Medicine (SoM) Admissions, providing reports to the Admissions Committee and program leadership. This position will also support the morning and training of application readers, ensuring readers are well-equipped to assess candidates effectively and equitably.

The SJV PRIME+ Admissions Manager will report directly to the Director of Admissions with a dotted line to the Department of Medical Education (DOM). This role is envisioned to enable strategic oversight and the integration of SJV program-specific strategies within our broader admissions operations at UC Merced. The SJV Prime+ Admissions Manager will lead the SJV strategic outreach initiatives, PreMed-Ready programming, and the supervision of the SJV Outreach Advisor. The SJV PRIME+ Admissions Manager will also monitor continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities including identifying other admissions/outreach needs (such as pipeline programs, and applicant training). The SJV PRIME+ Admissions Manager will serve on the Outreach Workstream and work closely with UC Merced Department of Medical Education, and various participants of the enrollment management team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates on the SJV PRIME+ admissions and outreach workstreams and operationalizes decisions to support the program's mission and standards. Collaborates with SJV PRIME+ Admissions Director and UCM DOME Team. Provides updates to program/campus leadership as needed.
  • Develops and maintains the AMP SJV applications to align with the program's evolving technological needs and automate processes where possible. Provides content updates for SJV PRIME+ Admissions website.
  • Supports collecting and organizing applicant data across digital platforms, enabling strategic decision-making for the SJV PRIME+ Program. Generates reports and documentation for the SJV Admissions Committee, liaises with UCSF SoM Admissions, facilitating program assessment, planning, and modifications. Participates in development of Outreach/Admissions CQI strategies (i.e. quality of applicants, completed applications, updated KPIs, developing pipeline programs, etc.).
  • Provides training and support to application readers, ensuring a consistent, fair, and thorough admissions evaluation process that complies with any federal, state, or local laws and policies.
  • Develops and implements a strategic outreach plan for the SJV PRIME Program, which includes but is not limited to the development and execution of PreMed-Ready programming, partnering with districts, educational outreach programs, and counselors to support candidate development and recruitment for the SJV PRIME+ program.
  • Supervises the SJV Outreach Advisor to improve outreach and recruitment efforts, targeting a diverse student body.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited institution. (Required)
  • Advanced degree Masters degree in a related field from an accredited institution. (Preferred)
  • At least five years of experience in a college or university admissions office. (Required)
  • A record of successful outcomes in the development and achievement of enrollment goals is required.
  • Experience in supervising staff. (Required)
  • California Drivers License. (Required)

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Familiar with grant programs and reporting guidelines. (Preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of project management including program design, implementation, and evaluation. (Preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge and experience working with a student population from various backgrounds. (Required)
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of UC, and the ability to interpret and communication policies and procedures to prospective students and the public. (Preferred)
  • Advanced and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, at colleges / universities and specifically at UC. (Preferred)
  • Advanced ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions. (Required)
  • Advanced knowledge of admissions requirements for campus / school / college, including mitigating circumstances / bases for exceptions. (Preferred)
  • Advanced skills to develop the school's / college's strategic recruitment plans, designing outreach and recruitment programs and materials that will attract and enroll top candidates to the school / college, including students from under-represented groups. (Required)
  • Knowledge of Pre-Med/Pre-Health Pathways at the high school and university level. (Preferred.)
