Job Overview

We are seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join our team at Komatsu's newMilwaukee headquarters. This role is a great opportunity for a newer HR professional to make a meaningful impact by supporting a wide range of human resources functions and contributing to the success of our business. The HR Specialist will work closely with our HR team and collaborate with employees across the organization on a variety of topics and initiatives

This is a hybrid position with an onsite schedule of four days in office per week.

Key Job Responsibilities


  • Partner with HR Operations to process employee changes, new hires, terminations, and contractor requests. Act as a liaison with Payroll, HRIS, HRIT, and other internal teams to resolve issues.



  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, payroll, and procedures.



  • Coordinate and implement Kronos (time clock) call-ins and monitor Prudential FMLA approvals on a daily basis.



  • Utilize HRIS tools to analyze data and generate regular and ad hoc reports related to benefits, compensation, and employment. Prepare correspondence and reports to support HR decision-making.



  • Assist HR leadership in developing, revising, implementing, and communicating company policies and procedures.



  • Participate in HR project teams focused on policy updates and other department initiatives.



  • Review and facilitate HR-related invoices for accounts payable processing.



  • Support labor relations by coordinating attendance letters, logging and posting weekly union job openings, organizing monthly grievance meetings, and serving as a notetaker for grievance meetings, contract negotiations, and other union-related meetings as needed.



  • Assist with the full-cycle recruitment process for assigned positions, including creating requisitions in the HRIS system, screening candidates,conducting prescreens and scheduling interviews, to supporthiring managers throughout the process.



  • Help coordinate the university engagement and internship program for South Harbor functions, including requisition tracking, outreach efforts, career fair participation, and onboarding support.



  • Support employee relations efforts such as performance management, conflict resolution, employee development, and investigations. Assist with the Komatsu performance review process.



  • Coordinate employee service awards and recognition dinners for the Milwaukee operations.



Qualifications/Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field



  • 1+ years of experience in a human resources role



  • Experience preparing reports, presentations, and professional correspondence



  • Working knowledge of HR laws and regulations



  • Experience working with HRIS systems



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all organizational levels



  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively



  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail



  • High level of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information



Preferred Skills


  • Experience with SAP and/or SuccessFactors



  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills



  • Prior exposure to labor relations or union environments



  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw insights from data



  • Experience with employee relations, performance management, or conflict resolution



  • Familiarity with full-cycle recruiting and/or university engagement programs
