Position Summary
This position presents a unique opportunity for staff to gain experience in both clinical and research settings. This is important for a variety of career pathways (e.g., medicine, psychology, other allied health professions) that provide some type of healthcare and conduct research with relevant populations.

Half of this position consists of responsibilities related to research. The position will also support ongoing research efforts on the bullying victimization of autistic youth and young adults and other research activities connected to the Autism Intersectionality and Mental health outcomes ( AIM) Lab. The responsibilities include recruiting participants, collecting and managing data, coordinating payments, assisting with data coding and analysis, and engaging with community partners and stakeholders. This role also requires direct communication with autistic participants and their families and collaboration with academic and community partners.

Half of this position consists of direct care. The position will work directly with autistic adults in this residential/vocational facility to provide active treatment in the areas of self-help, communication, social and leisure skills, vocational skills, behavioral support, and independence. The intended outcome is the highest possible quality of life for our residents.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work and communicate with diverse populations effectively and professionally. Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team.

Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Requires ability to carry out research activities (data collection, data analysis, participant recruitment) with supervision.

Requires meticulous attention to detail.

Requires excellent interpersonal skills, especially online and in-person participant skills.

Requires experience with MS Office suite.

Requires flexibility in managing diverse duties.

The essential skills needed for this position include the ability to directly supervise autistic adults with higher support needs, the ability to provide assistance to them with all their daily needs including personal care, the ability to provide training in the home and on the farm, the ability to protect clients' rights, the ability to prevent and respond to challenging behaviors, the ability to document clients' activities and behavior, and the ability to help with upkeep of the house and grounds. This position requires the staff member to supervise and participate in both indoor and outdoor recreation activities on the farm and during community outings. The selected candidate may be required to undergo fingerprinting and a national background check.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience working with autistic individuals and individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential home is preferred.

Experience in developmental or clinical research.

Experience with survey software and statistical package software.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
This position requires the ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and the ability to assist with the upkeep of the houses, gardens, and grounds.

The applicant should be able to communicate well, both written and orally, with others. It should also be noted that there is a great deal of physical effort involved in this position, as well as the requirement to be able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions. This position requires staff to be able to stoop, bend, walk distances on uneven ground, push, pull, and move objects. All duties to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

This position has been designated as essential to university operations. Employees in this position are considered Mandatory Employees of the University, meaning they are required to work during adverse weather conditions. This position is also a CDME (Communicable Disease Mandatory Employee) and required to work during a State of Emergency Order.
