Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Gillings School's Department of Nutrition is a global leader in research and training. We are the only nutrition department in the United States situated in both a school of public health and a school of medicine. We engage in innovative work that capitalizes on both these schools' approaches to health, and thus our department has an unusual breadth of scientific and policy approaches. Our faculty expertise spans from cell to society and moves from discovery to delivery. Our faculty and students work throughout North Carolina and reach populations in China, India, Malawi, Spain and the Philippines, to name a few. |
Position Summary |
The Nutrition for Precision Health Study is hiring for a Saturday-only Biospecimen Processor position. This position will process biological specimens which may include blood, urine, saliva, stool, hair and nail samples. Processing includes centrifuging and/or aliquoting specimens according to the study protocol. The processor is tasked with ensuring all specimens are appropriately managed and placed in onsite storage (-80 freezer or ambient storage) within the specified time targets detailed in the study protocol. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Experience and comfort with biospecimen processing including ability to pipette aliquots of specimens
Willingness to be trained in and follow study-specific protocol and procedures
Exceptionally strong organization and time management skills are required
Demonstrated ability to communicate with the study team
Capacity to perform and meet deadlines under pressure
Excellent computing skills including experience in Microsoft Office 365 and study data management
Ability to maintain a high level of detail and accuracy in work
Saturday availability required, must be available to work at least two Saturdays a month |
