This role is on-site daily working inside of a warehouse in Apex, NC

What this job involves: The HSSE Specialist provides temporary support to accounts and the JLL HSSE platform in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the JLL HSSE management systems at Client facilities/Small Capital Projects. In this capacity, the HSSE Specialist is accountable to coordinate the identification of the resources and equipment necessary to implement HSSE management systems and compliance programs related to JLL scope of work at the Client locations. The HSSE Specialist will advise the JLL management team on HSSE issues, evaluate potential hazardous situations and environmental impacts, and assist in ensuring JLL is compliant with HSSE regulatory and Client requirements.

What is the day-to-day:

• Support the assessment and implementation of HSSE management systems and compliance programs at the Client sites.
• Team with JLL Site Team and the Life Sciences HSSE team to establish HSSE performance goals and reviews performance against those goals.
• Track and report HSSE metrics and measure performance against key performance indicators. Establish necessary plans to meet or exceed key performance indicators.
• Evaluate hazards on client sites for safety, health, and environmental risks.
• Implement environmental, health and safety procedures and programs for Jones Lang LaSalle activities.
• Identify training requirements and coordinates execution of training matrix for HSSE regulatory and Client training requirements.
• Ensures required records are kept available according regulatory and JLL requirements.
• Assist the JLL Site Team in the accident investigation and communication process. Implement training and tools necessary to ensures that reports on HSSE incidents and performance are submitted on a timely basis, and that corrective actions are taken.
• Maintain liaison with client and service partner HSSE organizations to ensure that HSSE requirements are identified, and solutions coordinated.

• Internal: JLL Project leads, JLL Site Facility Management, JLL Life Sciences platform EHS team, JLL Site Team, JLL Risk Management

• Client: Client EHS and Operations Teams at the Site
• External: JLL Service Partners

Desired experience and technical skills -

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, or related years of experience
• Broad based knowledge of Environmental, Occupational Health, and Safety and Environmental Protection Agency regulations (control of high-risk work, spill prevention, hazardous waste, dangerous goods shipping)
• 2+ years of experience working with HSSE compliance and management systems preferably within facility operations
• Success working with subcontractors/vendors supporting mutual safety objectives
• Excellent skills in written and oral communication
• Basic computer skills with both word processing and database applications
• Ability to drive and inspect both outdoor and indoor areas to observe compliance with established programs

Preferred

• Professional designation like OHST, ASP, or CSP
• EHS experience in biopharmaceutical, research or maintenance operations
• Dangerous Goods shipping experience desired
