Pay

GroundsPRO offers competitive pay commensurate with experience in a similar position. The range for this position is $26.44 to $31.25 hourly, but actual compensation will vary depending upon new hire experience and qualifications as well as internal equity.

Role Overview

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing landscaping equipment and machinery to ensure they are in optimal working condition. This role involves performing routine maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and implementing preventative maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and other machinery to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues with landscaping machinery, including engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
  • Implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely at all times and complies with safety regulations and standards.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent on each task.
  • Train landscaping staff on proper equipment use and basic maintenance procedures.
  • Respond to emergency repair requests to minimize disruption to landscaping operations.
  • Work closely with landscape managers and technicians to prioritize equipment repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Inspect, lubricate, and service vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties related to tools, materials, shop, and work areas.
  • Understand the primary operation of the equipment and complete daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork/PM.
  • Work in a safe environment and promote all safety procedures including all OSHA requirements.
  • Plan and manage personal time and resources for the maximum benefit of the company.
  • May assist in other areas of maintenance in the shop as needed or as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • 2+ years in mechanical operations.
  • Diagnostics and maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the landscaping field is preferred.
  • Ability to operate a truck and trailer combination proficiently.
  • Own your own tools (preferred).
  • Strong self-starter, taking initiative.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, problem-solve, and troubleshoot.
  • Physical fitness level necessary to complete assigned tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to equipment use and maintenance.
  • Experience in managing inventory and maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities.
