We are investing millions of dollars annually to provide customers with the tools to better manage their energy use, scale the adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies while targeting customers in disadvantaged communities, and minimizing infrastructure investment with clean energy solutions whenever possible.The Customer Energy Services department is seeking a creative and analytical strategic leader with strong experience in the clean energy transition. The Project Specialist oversees the Company's demand-side management (DSM) initiatives to help ensure system reliability, including design, operations, administration, budgetary, marketing, performance and analysis, reporting, process improvement, customer and stakeholder engagement, and the team responsible for implementing these initiatives.The successful candidate will lead a team of experienced DSM professionals that will further the Company's clean energy transition, support Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) legislation, and implement programs that are designed to achieve the Company's clean energy goals and comply with all regulatory mandates. More specifically, the Project Specialist, supports all aspects of the Company's demand-side management initiatives to help ensure that customers and trade allies have the tools necessary to engage in the Company's portfolio of clean energy programs. This will include the design, maintenance, and integration of the Company's online Marketplace and the DSM Tracking database into the portfolio of software tools. The Project Specialist will support marketing campaigns, including collaboration with internal Program Managers and external market partners to create program-specific marketing communication, and coordinate all customer outreach events.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Supports the Company's demand-side management (DSM) initiatives to help ensure system reliability, including design, operations, administration, budgetary, marketing, performance and analysis, reporting, process improvement, customer and stakeholder engagement, and the team responsible for implementing these initiatives.
- Directs the implementation and maintenance of the online Marketplace platform including engaging customers and trade allies in the Companys Clean Energy Future including project planning, design, and vendor technology evaluation.
- Directs the implementation and maintenance of the DSM Tracking Tool platform to integrate all online Marketplace energy savings to streamline the performance of the online Marketplace, track Marketplace performance metrics, and identify opportunities for increased revenue and participation.
- Develops, implements and maintains a trade ally network of qualified Third-Party Service providers and the engagement tools necessary for them to interact with customers on a digital platform.
- Responds to interrogatories and other regulatory inquiries regarding software platforms, customer engagement strategies, and overall program outreach and education and represents the Company in regulatory proceedings.
- Prepares and administers program marketing, outreach and education operating budgets and identifies the effectives of outreach strategies to maximize performance.
- Provides guidance and assistance to business partners for the purpose of identifying and marketing the proper mix of clean energy products and service offerings and reviews all marketing to ensure it meets all Company branding.
- Ensures potential customer concerns associated with the purchase of clean energy products and services are mitigated and plans in place to resolve concerns quickly.
- Demonstrates an understanding of new and developing technologies required to recommend, advertise and market products and services in a digital marketplace.
- Supports the DSM program tracking software including data transfers, new/existing program configurations, savings calculations and incentive modifications to ensure that the platform is the system of record for program savings.
- Supports the development of robust marketing plans with identified tactics and strategies to increase customer awareness and market partner participation in programs.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in the fields of Architecture, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Law, or other related technical disciplines and 3 years Related experience in at least one of the following areas: Clean Energy/Energy Efficiency, Project Management, Business Management Advertising and/or Marketing. or
- Master's Degree in the fields of Architecture, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Law, or other related technical disciplines and 3 years Related experience in at least one of the following areas: Clean Energy/Energy Efficiency, Project Management, Business Management Advertising and/or Marketing.
Relevant Work Experience
- Demonstrated presentation and technical writing skills, required.
- Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments and deadlines, required.
- Experience managing budgets and forecasts, required.
- Manage pilot projects that support the clean energy transition, required.
- Strong analytical, and technical skills, required.
- Demonstrated leadership experience and proven track record of achieving sustainable results in managing programs/projects, and process documentation, required.
- Computer and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is required, in addition to Project Management software tools, required.
- Able to demonstrate innovative thinking and have the ability to work in a team atmosphere, required.
- Experience managing vendor contracts and coordinating with supply chain, preferred.
Licenses and Certifications

- Professional Engineer (PE) Preferred
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred
Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within O&R and CECONY service territory, as needed.
