Provides apprenticeship experience along with financial support.This apprenticeship complements formal instruction offered in the graduate program and gives the student practical, personal experience that can be gained only by performing research activities.It is expected that graduate associate responsibilities will not interfere with a student's reasonable progress toward completion of the graduate degree. Specific responsibilities may include applying and mastering research concepts, practices, or methods of scholarship; conducting experiments; organizing or analyzing data; writing reports; presenting findings; collaborating with others in preparing publications; and conducting institutional research for an academic or administrative unit. This is a 24-month program with emphasis on pharmaceutical care residency accreditation standard. This position provides experience in four key areas; inpatient acute care, ambulatory care, drug information and practice management. The position also functions to implement and coordinate all aspects of patients pharmaceutical needs in the patient care areas including but not limited to; medication order implementation and distribution; provide assurance of appropriate dose, route, frequency and duration of therapy, review patient medication profiles for drug-drug interactions, duplication of therapy, drug allergy interactions and appropriate regimens; assist in coordinating patients pharmaceutical needs with physicians and nurses. This position is also responsible for supervising technicians, undergraduates teaching and providing educational programs for hospital staff (nurses and pharmacy staff). Duties: 50% Professional Practice Activities; Approval and implementation of new drug orders; Screening for drug interactions; Detection and management of adverse drug reactions; Monitoring the accuracy of drug dispensing; Response to drug information requests; Patient teaching activities; Pharmacokinetics and Therapeutic consults with other health professionals; Preparation of drugs for administration 25% Assisting clinical pharmacists in discharging their responsibilities 10% Supervisory Activities; Supervision of pharmacy technicians and interns 10% Assisting administrative staff in discharging their responsibilities 5% Teaching and Educational Activities; Instructing undergraduate and Pharm.D students; Professional instruction to hospital and clinical Experience Graduation from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy and licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Ohio. Strong preference is given to candidates with Pharm.D degree.
