Job Summary

This role is for Clinical Instructors to teach clinical rotations for the Master's Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) prelicensure graduate degree. Clinical instruction will take place in various hospitals and community agencies in the region that meet the Board of Registered Nursing requirements.

Clinical Instructors serve as part of the educational team and will collaborate with didactic teaching faculty to ensure all course objectives are met for each student. Training and development is offered before instruction begins.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
  • Must possess either a Bachelor or Masters in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in one of the following areas: medical surgical nursing, critical care, pediatrics, maternity, community health, or mental health nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically to provide leadership to achieve the vision of the school.
  • Implements systems for learner assessment to and with program leadership. Ensures current programmatic and learner needs are met by assessing evaluation data trends; compiling and presenting data to program leadership; and actively leading and participating in continuous improvement efforts
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff and students; respond to questions and concerns; and comprehend the specialized needs of students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational skills to work under frequent interruptions; to independently establish priorities, anticipate job requirements, organize work flow to work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent independent decision-making skills to work with ambiguities where clear guidelines are not present. Demonstrated skills to identify issues, provide recommendations, referrals, and seek resources to develop solutions.
  • Ability to function well and with a great deal of flexibility in a fast-paced working environment; strong initiative and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop programmatic partnerships with a variety of clinical sites though out the Sacramento region.
  • Ability to work with and maintain the confidentially of student and patient information and records.
  • Excellent oral and written skills to communicate with faculty, staff, students and sites.
  • Knowledge and commitment to UC Affirmative Action policies and procedures, specifically related to retention and support of graduate students from traditionally under-represented groups.
  • Appointment subject to approval to teach by the California Board of Registered Nursing

Work Environment
