Overview
The Vermont Department of Labor exists to improve the lives of working Vermonters. The Department's Vermont Occupational Safety and Health Administration (VOSHA) enforces the OSH Act of 1970 to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses through enforcement, training, and outreach. The Vermont Department of Labor, Workplace Safety, is headquartered in Montpelier with additional locations in Burlington and Rutland. The individual will report directly to the VOSHA Chief Compliance Supervisor and work closely with the Program Manager. Who May Apply
This position, Occupational Safety Compliance Officer (Job Requisition #53024), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Environmental Factors
Duties are generally performed in a field setting on the premises of Vermont employers. Considerable travel is involved requiring private means of transportation. There may be some degree of exposure to dangerous situations at work sites. Incumbents may be required to work on ladders or in confined spaces. Interaction with employers and employees is frequent and may involve strong adversary situations. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, industrial management or closely related field. OR Three (3) years or more of experience in plant safety, industrial engineering, plant maintenance engineering, or industrial work. Total Compensation
