POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pulmonary Diagnostics Respiratory Therapist provides quality respiratory care to patients, including routine and complex procedures, using a wide variety of techniques and equipment. This position collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and communicates effectively with others. The therapist ensures patient care meets quality standards established by the hospital, department, and regulatory agencies. The therapist is accountable for maintaining all skills and knowledge necessary to provide safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate respiratory care to patients of all ages from neonate to adolescent. Along with other members of the care team, the therapist is responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high standards of care provided by JHACH.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Assess patients' clinical status, evaluate progress toward goals, and recommend courses of action to determine a plan of care
* Plan for patients' respiratory care needs in collaboration with other members of the care team to provide the highest quality of clinical outcomes
* Safely perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, procedural guidelines, and policies
* Analyze critical situations and apply appropriate judgment and critical thinking to achieve problem resolution
* Accurately and reliably interpret and communicate patient results to support patient care
* Document interventions performed and responses to therapies in the electronic medical record
* Interact with and explain therapeutic modalities to patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team in an understandable manner
* Work effectively in a team-based environment, especially during stressful situations involving quickly changing priorities


QUALIFICATIONS:

* Associate's Degree required
* Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure
* Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
* Graduate from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
* Minimum of 1 year experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
* No experience required for new graduate Registered Respiratory Therapists
* Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
* Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association (or must be obtained within 120-day orientation period)
* Current NRP certification required if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Salary Range: Minimum $30.19/hour - Maximum $48.30/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
