General Function

The Safety Inspector B is responsible for inspecting work areas and practices to ensure they meet safety regulations and internal objectives. This role involves preparing and maintaining safety-related reports and operates under the general supervision of a Safety Manager or Plant Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following outlines the general scope of responsibilities, but is not an exhaustive list:

• Educates employees and supervisors on safe work practices and techniques.
• Enforces compliance with OSHA regulations and safety standards.
• Regularly monitors operations to ensure ongoing adherence to safety rules.
• May investigate employee complaints regarding hazardous working conditions.
• Responds to safety or security incidents in the workplace.
• Inspects designated areas for proper fire-prevention equipment, safety gear, and first-aid supplies.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Solid understanding of state and Federal safety regulations, including OSHA, environmental, health, and workers' compensation guidelines.
• Familiarity with general plant operations or the ability to acquire such knowledge quickly.
• Competence in maintaining accurate records and producing timely, comprehensive reports.
• Ability to foster effective working relationships across all employee levels.

Experience & Training

• Standard education supplemented by training in first aid.
• Experience in industrial facility inspection or safety administration preferred.
• 2 years of HSE experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if they provide the requisite skills and knowledge.
