Job Summary
The Kitchen Tech III - Refrigeration Tech serves as a front-line resource to service technicians through technical support and provides guidance and training to other technicians. Responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing and maintenance of industrial or commercial cooking, refrigeration and/or HVAC equipment (to include both hot-side and cold-side systems). Develops, maintains and secures a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools. Recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required to streamline processes and increase efficiency. Assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve facilities processes.
Essential Duties
- Diagnose refrigeration and HVAC system performance through observation, testing and setup as required by trade/position and type/size of equipment to include: ice machines, reach in cooler/freezer, walk in cooler/freezer, make line, cold cases, MAU's, exhaust fans and up to 20 Ton Unitarian equipment.
- Performs disassembly and reassembly of industrial or commercial cooking, refrigeration and/or HVAC equipment to perform troubleshooting, planned maintenance and inspections as indicated in the service agreement.
- Completes service contracts, quoted projects and demand service calls as directed. Develops long-term relationships with customers and explains work performed to the customer's satisfaction. Communicates and documents project status to all project stakeholders.
- Serves as a front-line resource to service technicians through technical support. Coordinates the work of subcontractors, and trains and provides guidance to technicians.
- Coordinates multi-tech jobs, and accomplishes multiple tasks on multiple projects with minimal impact, if any, between projects. Reviews job contract specifications and assists with installation plan. Coordinates work so it aligns with the project and start-up schedule.
- Completes all required paperwork timely and accurately. Takes readings from nominal equipment and makes timely entry into appropriate logs. Takes and logs readings from critical equipment and takes appropriate corrective actions before system outage occur.
- Uses tools and equipment that are standard issue and do not need further calibration or adjustment. Keeps tools and work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Works on and completes all facility team-based goals. Identifies opportunities for process/system improvements and implements them as they are approved.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two-year technical degree in related field is preferred.
- Must possess required registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications as required by the position.
- 5-7 years of experience as a Refrigeration Technician.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair: Ice Machines, Reach-in-Cooler, Reach-In Freezer, Walk in Cooler, Walk-In Freezer, Make Line, Supermarket Cases and Supermarket Racks.
- Must have advanced knowledge of service processes, techniques and codes.
- Experience with graphic design, schematics and blue prints.
- Performs as a self-managed individual.
