Job Summary: The Data Engineer III is responsible for engineering, architecting, developing, and implementing data acquisition and integration capabilities to enable actionable information to the business with a high degree of impact. Essential Functions:
- Key contributor for the analysis, design, and implementation of data solutions for acquisition & integration capabilities
- Participate in the full life cycle from data ingestion through modeling into core layers of the Modern Data Platform (MDP), broadly from requirements
- Collaborate with SMEs to develop business rules that measure and assure data quality, facilitating discussions with end users, architects, and data modelers
- Perform analysis and research to inform end-to-end data warehouse & data integration capabilities
- Develop expertise on one or more insurer-specific data domains, such as claims, care management (CM), utilization management (UM), eligibility, accounting / finance, and population health
- Work with partners to identify and implement opportunities for improvement that impact performance, quality, and/or profit through the delivery of data models and end-user capabilities
- Work with Business and IT Partners to understand business processes and participate in development of data solutions that will address gaps or issues
- Identify and quantify data related pain points within the organization and assist in the development of remediation plans
- Sets objectives forown job with the understanding of how output would affect, and impact other job areas related to own job. Contributes and provides input to the development of operational area goals within the context of own job area. Work consists of tasks that are typically not routine, works independently and applies discretion within established operational boundaries and procedures. Work direction is only provided for new areas of work or unique assignments.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of relevant work experience is required
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience designing and developing ETL is required
- Proficiency in ETL/ELT processes is essential; with cloud-to-cloud data integration experience is preferred.
- Demonstrable experience in all stages of definition, design, implementation, testing and deployment of complex database warehouse and ETL solutions is required
- Healthcare payer experience is preferred
- Participation and experience working within a formal Data Warehouse and Engineering environment is preferred
- Advanced SQL and / or Python experience (including data modeling, profiling, and cleansing, and building complex data sets) is required
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
Competencies, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Proven ability to write complex SQL queries and/or python code
- Experience with Azure Databricks, SparkSQL, and Azure Data Factory
- Proficient working with transforming and warehousing data from multiple sources, such as operational data stores (ODS), flat file, EDI/HL7, API, etc.
- Proven ability developing medium to complex data models with applied understanding data modeling and transformation techniques
- Ability to manage multiple medium to large scale projects while demonstrating a sense of urgency
- Knowledge of common healthcare data domains and processes (patient registry, billing, diagnosis, procedure codes)
- Proven understanding of relational database theory
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with stakeholders at all different levels
- Effective problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and verbal communication skills; listening and critical thinking
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Customer Service oriented
Working Conditions:
- General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Compensation Range: $92,300.00 - $161,600.00 CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level. In addition to base compensation, you may qualify for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
