Position Summary
The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology seeks an independent, organized, and mission driven Research Specialist to join Dr. Chemtai Mungo's global women's health team. Working ~20 hours per week, you will coordinate international clinical studies that develop context specific strategies for cervical cancer prevention in low resource settings. Key duties include operational oversight of trials from start up through close out; day to day planning and monitoring of study implementation; ensuring regulatory and award compliance; supporting literature reviews and grant preparation; and contributing to qualitative and quantitative data analysis, writing, and dissemination.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* 1 year of relevant training or research experience.
* Demonstrated passion for global women's health and the social determinants of health.
* Strong independent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
* Excellent written, verbal, and cross cultural communication skills.
* Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and complete projects and to organize and motivate collaborators.
* Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Prior work with marginalized populations or maternal child health programs.
* Experience conducting or managing clinical research or trials, including grant writing or grant management.
* International experience and willingness to travel.
* Familiarity with human papillomavirus ( HPV) literature and global cervical cancer prevention initiatives.
* Knowledge of, or experience in, cervical cancer screening and treatment efforts in low and middle income countries.
