To strengthen our team in Ann Arbor,

we are looking for you as a(n) Business Director - Consumer & Health Care.

The Business Director - Consumer & Health Care is responsible for leading and managing the Sales, Marketing, and Technical Service teams within the assigned Business Unit to achieve targeted profit and revenue goals in the North and Central America (NCA) region. This role requires close coordination with Supply Chain, Operations, the Global Business Unit, and key support functions including Credit, Procurement Logistics, RAPS, Distribution Management, and Customer Service to ensure seamless execution of business objectives and optimal customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions



  • Develop, implement, and achieve regional business unit goals for revenue and profitability, aligned with global business unit objectives.
  • Prioritize market opportunities and manage marketing and technical staff, as well as indirectly oversee sales staff through the Sales Director; determine strategies and action plans to achieve goals.
  • Develop and execute regional strategies and business plans, including industry and market analysis and portfolio management.
  • Manage and allocate resources, including succession planning, personnel development, and recruitment.
  • Oversee demand management (including APO planning and forecast accuracy), support inventory management, and contribute to reducing supply chain complexity.
  • Ensure product compliance with and support of corporate programs such as RAPS, Safety, EH&S, ISO, and Corporate Policies.
  • Maintain a safe workplace in laboratories and offices.



Position Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in a Business or Technical field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in sales and marketing of chemical products (specialties and standards).
  • Technical service experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Proven track record in successful business development and management.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive business strategies.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal, presentation, and writing skills for effective interaction with subordinates, peers, executive management, and customers.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated change management capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of products, applications, and markets associated with the Business Unit.
  • Strong financial skills and business acumen.
  • Effective leadership and management abilities.
  • Understanding of international business practices and intercultural competence.
  • Ability to design and implement best-in-class work processes.
  • Proficiency with software applications (Office, CRM).
  • Experience in operational and strategic planning.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Understanding of supply chain operations and ability to establish mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
