Job description
POSITION PURPOSE: The Floor Custodian Technician position is responsible for the effective and efficient maintenance of the cleanliness of the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station / Cheatham Annex facilities and warehouses in accordance with the Statement of Work incorporated into the contract between VersAbility and the U.S. Government. This work is performed anywhere from 7:00 a.m. to as late as 10:00 p.m. in the evening in order to meet Government specifications and building facility schedules.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
* Ensuring the completion of custodial duties during the assigned shift through manual performance. These tasks include, but are not limited to, high/low dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, wet or dry mopping, operating a large floor scrubber, buffing, stripping and reapplying a smooth, glossy finish.
* Responsible for obtaining the appropriate supplies and equipment (provided) necessary to perform all duties. Ensures supplies and equipment are maintained in a condition that is safe and effective. This includes following the guidelines for chemical use on the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of each product
* Responsible for participating in meetings and training, as directed by their Supervisor and/or Contract Manager
* Responsible for completing reports and documentation concerning custodial performance and responsibilities, such as requests for leave
* Responsible for maintaining an open line of communication with VersAbility's Custodial Supervisor and Contract Manager. This includes relaying information concerning performance, such as improved performance or a need for additional training
* Responsible for maintaining quality standards as determined by the Government Quality Assurance Evaluator
* Responsible for promoting and maintaining positive lines of communication with the various Government personnel working in the facility. Responsible for providing quality customer service
* Responsible for maintaining a sanitary and safe work area
* Responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures as set forth by VersAbility and the U.S. Government.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: * Minimum of 2 years experience stripping and waxing floors in a Government or Commercial business preferred * Must have a working knowledge of the procedures involved in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the Government Facilities such as: o the operation of custodial and floor scrubbing equipment o the proper use and disposal of chemicals o the appropriate method used to maintain a consistent and glossy floor finish
* Must be able to perform multiple tasks without assistance and/or supervision
* Must be able to work flexible hours within a late night/early morning, seven-day-a-week schedule
* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently
* Must be able to walk long distances and climb stairs
* Must be able to stand for long periods
* Must be able to drive and have a good driving record in order to operate Custodial Vans
* Work will be performed in Government Facilities and Warehouses. As a result, the employee must be able to pass the background security check performed by the Government.

* Employees will be working in a facility that provides a service to military personnel and employs civil servant personnel.
