Job Description
ECU College of Business and Hospitality Management is currently seeking a Teaching Assistant for HMGT 2300/01 - Principles of Food Preparation Laboratory to assist in teaching applied foods methods and principles in preparation and evaluation of standard food products.

This section requires a strong knowledge of food, food preparation methods, presentation, and service of food products. All HMGT students must take this lab as it is a required part of the HMGT core. Food knowledge and culinary skill are vital for food prep instruction for students.


  • HMGT 2300/01 - Principles of Food Preparation Laboratory teaching assistants must have outstanding skills in interacting with undergraduate students and be proficient in teaching, training, and coaching students.



  • HNGT 4300/4301 - Advanced Food Productivity and Service Management teaching assistants must have outstanding skills in interacting with undergraduate students and be proficient in teaching, training, and coaching students.
This position will be starting fall semester.
Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Skills and Abilities:
* Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
* Have well developed written and oral communication skills
* Be capable of meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy
* Have patience and perseverance with students
* Strive to complete work efficiently and correctly

* Food Service Facilities and Equipment
* Menu management and development
* Food Standards
* Brand Food Service Programs
* Standard recipes
* Product specifications
* Recipe Conversions and Food Costing
* Kitchen Prep, Kitchen Line, Service
* Production Schedules
* Purchasing and Inventory Management
