We're Coming Back Together To Be Together What You'll Do: Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Operate Locomotives. Operate locomotives or works as a brakeman to connect, disconnect and push rail cars to and from yard and loading facility. Communicate with Traffic controllers/Plant Manager to receive instructions via 2-way radio/telephone to issue or receive information on stops, delays, or oncoming trains. Inspect Equipment. Ability to physically inspect all areas of the vehicle for safety including engine compartment and undercarriage. Perform pre-trip/post-trip vehicle safety inspection; document and report vehicle condition at beginning and end of each shift. Check all vehicle fluid levels daily and add fluids if necessary. Maintain Equipment. Performs routine maintenance of locomotive and rail cars. Repair and maintain freight cars, using hand tools, power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment. Monitor Surroundings. Maintain awareness of the surrounding area and suspicious activity to ensure rail safety. Comprehend color and/or hand signals Qualifications
Skills You'll Need: Experience. Previous experience operating off-road equipment is preferred. Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred. Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
