Overview
The Electric Boat D789 Motor Test Organization (MTO) located at the Compatibility Test Facility (CTF) in Philadelphia PA is seeking a qualified individual to perform the duties of the Assistant Chief Test Engineer (ACTE). The ACTE will work directly with the CTF Chief Test Engineer (CTE) to directly aide in the discharge of their duties in the management and performance of the Columbia Class Motor Module Test Program or similar test programs occurring at CTF. In the absence of the CTE, the ACTE will act as the CTE on their behalf. The ACTE will perform the following responsibilities on a daily basis:
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent or combination of 4 years of relevant work experience and qualifications to be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Test Engineer or similar work experience is required.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience including the management of a team for ship testing construction is required.
Preferred:
- Previous experience with Electric Boat test programs as either a Shift Test Engineer (STE) or ACTE is highly desired.
- U.S. Navy experience in an engineering department desired.
- Previous supervisor experience in a test facility is preferred.
Skills
- Ability to direct test engineers in performance of test in operations in an intense production environment and able to mentor, evaluate, and drive performance of Test Engineers.
- Quantifiable experience in the management and performance of a ship test program, or similar program lead experience, including the review and approval of technical procedures, analysis of test results, and risk analysis in an operational environment.
- Proven ability to work, think and act independently and able to determine causes and corrective actions for technical and personnel related problems.
- The successful candidate must have proven experience as an effective communicator, have strong verbal and written communication skills, and must also be able to build strong relationships with partners and stakeholders, including Electric Boat customer representatives (i.e. NAVSEA) and senior Electric Boat leadership.
- The successful candidate must be familiar with submarine propulsion systems, knowledge of the Columbia class components and system designs is preferred.
