As a valued member of Aon's View of Risk Advisory Team, you will have the exciting opportunity to channel your enthusiasm for natural catastrophes to empower our clients with impactful results. Your role will involve delivering insightful model evaluations, supporting model changes, conducting peril research, and providing cutting-edge analytical solutions.

How is this opportunity different

As part of the Aon View of Risk Advisory team, you will play an integral role providing analytics support on risk assessment, model evaluation, and view of risk for Aon clients.

  • Support catastrophe model evaluations in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America under the direction of the View of Risk Advisory Peril Leads
  • Use of catastrophe modeling software (Moody's RMS, Verisk, Cotality, Impact Forecasting, KatRisk, etc.) for model evaluation and claims analyses
  • Investigate catastrophe model exposure and losses to assess key drivers of model differences
  • Analyze catastrophe model output, claims data, and other data sources using SQL, R, Python, QGIS, Tableau, etc.
  • Create professional reports and visualizations to clearly communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist clients in the understanding of catastrophe risks, sensitivity studies and added analytics based on catastrophe model results
  • Respond to Aon account teams, clients, and reinsurers on issues and questions relating to catastrophe models and peril science
  • Distill and summarize catastrophe model vendor documentation including scope of model change, methodology, and technical papers
  • Conduct independent peril-related research and summarize findings to support catastrophe model evaluation conclusions

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Demonstrated knowledge of natural catastrophes and practical experience with data analysis in an academic or professional setting.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft products, with intermediate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication with the ability to convey complex communication clearly and concisely.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks efficiently to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Work independently and think strategically to drive projects forward, while also collaborating with team members when necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability in all deliverables.
  • Experience using catastrophe modeling software and interpreting modeled loss output is preferred
  • Experience working with large peril-related datasets from NOAA, FEMA, USGS, and more is preferred
  • Programming experience using SQL, R, or Python is preferred
  • Data visualization and mapping experience using Tableau. Power BI, or QGIS is preferred

Education

  • Related B.S. degree in meteorology, climatology, or engineering, with a strong mathematical, probability and/or statistical foundation (MS or PhD preferred, but not required)

Pay Transparency Laws

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $80,000 - $95,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
